The Forum / Funding

The Forum requires an annual operating budget in order to cover the salary of the Coordinator, maintaining a website and organizing plenary meetings, among other activities. The basic operating funds come from membership fees paid annually by active members. Each active member pay an annual fee proportional to its budget. There are several categories of fees such as "international", "regional", "national-local". Some members (WCS, CI, FVSA, FPN) have made extra monetary contributions for special projects according to their capabilities. Forum fees are administrated by one of the member organization, with the express consent of the other members.

The Forum perceives occasionally financial support from international donors in order to implement special activities and projects. The donors that have provided funding for the Forum to date are:

A call that seeks to unite all the nations of the world around the moto “Bringing People and the Oceans together”, ends the 4th International Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC 4). The Forum for the Conservation of the Patagonian Sea and Areas of Influence added its voice through 5 proposals presented during the world’s largest ocean conservation meeting.

La 4ta edición del Congreso internacional de Áreas Marinas Protegidas (International Marine Protected Areas Congress o IMPAC4), se celebrará en Chile del 4 al 9 de septiembre, y el Foro para la Conservación del Mar Patagónico y Áreas de Influencia estará presente a través de una serie de propuestas.

Nuevas Áreas Marinas Protegidas (AMP) son creadas en la región y el mundo, pero su figura no resulta suficiente para preservar los valores naturales del mar. Hoy, la implementación efectiva de esta herramienta es débil. Su éxito depende, en gran medida, del fortalecimiento de las instituciones a cargo de su gestión, con recursos humanos disponibles y capacitados.
